A train struck a tractor-trailer crashed in west Michigan early Tuesday morning, Nov. 25, destroying the trailer, according to a Facebook post from Portage Department of Public Safety.
No injuries were reported, police said.
Officers were dispatched about 9:23 a.m. Tuesday, to the collision in front of 8850 Shaver Road in Portage.
Police said the locomotive and rail cars sustained minor damage and remained upright. After the collision, the train stopped approximately 1,000 feet south of the point of impact.
The northbound lanes of Shaver Road were closed. Businesses on the east side of the tracks were blocked in for several hours during the investigation and removal of vehicles, according to PDPS.
