A Connecticut police officer working traffic control during a holiday parade was injured after a car hit him over the weekend, authorities said.

The 64-year-old Jewett City fire police officer was directing traffic at the end of the annual Snowflake Parade at Main and North Main streets in Griswold on Saturday when a 2013 Jeep Patriot struck him, Connecticut State Police said.

The officer suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital.

The driver was a 72-year-old woman from Jewett City. State police said she stopped the SUV a short distance away and spoke with the officer.

State police said they are investigating the crash and reviewing surveillance footage.

Police have not announced any charges and have not released the names of those involved.
