VANDERBURGH CO., Ind. (WFIE) - A Louisville man, who has been in the Vanderburgh County Jail since June, will be home in time for Thanksgiving.

That’s according to the prosecutor, who says 25-year-old Malik Stafford’s charges are being dropped.

Court records show the motion to dismiss was just filed Tuesday afternoon.

Stafford was charged last summer with causing death and causing injury while driving while intoxicated.

Deputies say he was driving a box truck on North St. Joseph Avenue, when he crossed the line and hit an SUV.

31-year-old Maria Guetling was killed. Her child was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

At the time of the crash, authorities said urine and oral swabs from Stafford detected cannabis.
