KINGSTOWNE, Va. — Reports of a potential peace deal aimed at ending the nearly four-year war in Ukraine are generating guarded hope among those with loved ones caught in the conflict, including a Fairfax County woman who says she wants to believe progress is finally being made but fears it may not hold.
Ukraine’s government has agreed to a U.S.-brokered proposal, though officials caution that key details still need to be negotiated. Any agreement would also require Russia’s approval, which remains uncertain.
“The president wants to see this deal come together as quickly as possible, and he trusts that his team is doing everything they can to get it over the finish line,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said this week.
