EAST GRAND RAPIDS, MI – A massive development project in East Grand Rapids is on hold until a resident-led lawsuit against the city plays out in court.

On Tuesday, Nov. 25, the city commission opted not to vote on a protest petition from residents that’s aimed at stopping the project.

City Manager Shea Charles had recommended commissioners reject the petition. Instead, City Attorney John Huff said the city is going to let the legal process run its course.

“From this point forward, any public discussion of this matter by the city will be in a courtroom until this matter is resolved,” Huff told commissioners Tuesday. “The project itself is on hold during the pendency of litigation unless the court rules otherwise, and this project will not appear on a city commission agenda again until
