A winter weather advisory was issued by the National Weather Service on Wednesday at 1:45 a.m. valid from Thursday 7 a.m. until Saturday 1 a.m. for Potter, Elk and Cameron counties.
The weather service adds, "Total snow accumulations between 3 and 5 inches, with locally higher amounts of 6 or 7 inches possible in the more persistent snow bands. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph."
"Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday morning and evening commutes," describes the weather service. "During lake effect snow, the weather can vary from bands of locally heavy snow to dry weather just a few miles away. Visibilities can also vary greatly. Be prepared for rapid changes in weather, visibility, and road conditions. Be prepared for slippery roads. Slow down
