Syracuse N.Y. -- Syracuse head coach Fran Brown appeared surprised that backup running back Will Nixon wanted to return to the Orange next year when he was asked about it during an interview on ESPN Radio Syracuse on Wednesday.

Nixon told Syracuse.com on Tuesday night that he was pursuing a medical hardship waiver to play a seventh season of college football and that, if it was granted, he planned to come back to Syracuse.

When asked about Nixon’s comments on the Orange Nation radio program and about the possibility of any other surprise players returning, Brown appeared unaware that Nixon had changed his mind and wanted to play college football next year.
