BUFFALO, N.Y. — Families in Buffalo kicked off their Thanksgiving celebrations on The Ice at Canalside , as the downtown rink opened for the first time this holiday season.
Visitors laced up their skates to enjoy some pre-dinner fun, making the most of the festive atmosphere.
Jonathan Paul of Tonawanda said skating has become a family tradition.
“We just like to get together as a family before Thanksgiving dinner. Usually we go bowling, but all bowling is closed today apparently, so yeah, we headed down to the ice rink,” he said.
For those who missed the festivities Thursday, the Canalside ice rink will open again on Friday from 1 to 10 p.m., giving families another chance to enjoy the holiday on the ice.
