HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Volunteers plated, packed, and delivered over 600 Thanksgiving meal bags for homebound seniors and people with disabilities on Oahu.
The nonprofit Lanakila Pacific held its “Meals on Wheels” Thanksgiving meal service Thursday, and made hot meals that included roast turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, veggies, and pumpkin crunch.
The nonprofit said many of its clients spend the holidays alone, so the delivery lets them know that someone cares.
“We want to make sure people are not forgotten and have something to celebrate with,” said Lori Lau, director of Lanakila Meals on Wheels.
Volunteer Christina Farala-Fogata’s late father brought her to the nonprofit as a teenager, and now her family has joined her in giving back to the community.
