WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump says West Virginia National Guard member Sarah Beckstrom has died from wounds she suffered when she was shot while deployed near the White House.
“She’s just passed away,” Trump announced at around 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. “She’s no longer with us. She’s looking down at us right now. Her parents are with her.”
The 20-year-old Beckstrom was one of two guardsmen shot on Wednesday while patrolling under orders from the Trump administration and the West Virginia governor. During a press conference on Thursday, US Attorney for DC Jeanine Pirro, said both Beckstrom and Andrew Wolfe, 24, were in critical condition.
Beckstrom enlisted in the West Virginia National Guard in June 2023 and served as a military police soldier.
