ENGLEWOOD, Fla. ( WWSB ) - A 51-year-old Englewood man was killed Friday morning when he lost control of his car his car on Pine Street, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Investigators say at 4:14 a.m., a sedan was heading north on Pine Street at a high rate of speed as it approached the intersection of Crestwood Road.
The driver filed to negotiate a curve, went off the roadway and into a parking lot entrance of Calvary Baptist Church. The car hit a light pole and fire hydrant before overturning, troopers said.
The driver died at the scene, the highway patrol said.
The crash remains under investigation.
