OIL CITY, Pa. - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has temporarily implemented reduced speed limits on Interstate 80 in Mercer County and Venango County due to winter weather.

PennDOT is asking drivers to avoid unnecessary travel, but for those who do need to hit the road, the speed limit on I-80 from the Ohio state line to Exit 29 in Barkeyville has been reduced to 45 miles per hour.

On roadways with speed restrictions, commercial vehicles not affected by these restrictions must move to the right lane.

While PennDOT crews are out treating the roadways, the department's goal is to keep roads passable. Roads will not be completely free of ice and snow.

Crews will continue to treat the roadways until precipitation stops and the roads are passable.
