It has been a big week for a young Bishopbriggs boy who celebrated his 4th birthday by ringing the bell on the Schiehallion Ward at the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow, as he marked the end of his cancer treatment. Last April, 'cheeky' Tommy Quinn was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer , which has only a 50 per cent survival rate.

The little one started taking unwell after returning from a family holiday in January, with mum Nicole, 38, and dad David, 42, noticing the period of illness was brought on after eating certain foods. Initially fearing a food allergy, they began noticing their then two-year-old was also struggling to sleep - but put this down to his age.
