Two sisters were killed trying to rescue their disabled father from a house fire in Essex County on Thanksgiving, authorities said.

Frantzia Fleury, 49, and Pojanee Fleury, 42, died in the fire that started around 5 p.m. Thursday at their home on 600 Mosswood Avenue in Orange, according to a spokesperson for the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office .

They were pronounced dead at the scene at 6:47 p.m., the spokesperson said.

The father and six others escaped the fire uninjured, she said.

“The cause of the fire is under investigation, and no additional details are available at this time,” the spokesperson said.

A message left for the City of Orange Township fire chief wasn’t immediately returned.
