SAN ANTONIO — A man was taken into custody Thursday afternoon after police say he assaulted both an Uber driver and an SAPD officer just northwest of downtown.
According to SAPD, officers were dispatched around 2:30 p.m. to the 5000 block of the NW Loop 410 Access Road for a report of an assault in progress.
Investigators say the incident began when the 31-year-old man got sick inside an Uber. The driver ended the ride and asked the passenger to get out of his vehicle, but police say the man refused and began physically assaulting the driver. The driver called police, and responding officers found the man walking away from the scene.
When officers tried to detain him, police say the suspect resisted and then assaulted an SAPD officer, causing intentional bodily injury.
