Scott Rumsey has resigned as Valley Central’s football coach after two seasons to spend more time with his family.
Rumsey previously spent 26 years coaching at Marist University. He served as the Red Foxes’ defensive coordinator for 23 seasons and associate head coach for 19.
“I am stepping down to be able to be the husband and father I should be,” said Rumsey, who has three children in college. “I want to make sure that I am available to participate in all of the events that come along with enjoying my girls’ final years in college. I have been on the sidelines for 35 years, and I feel it’s time to step down and spend more time with my wife as well. Coaching is an incredibly all-encompassing way of life for the entire family.”
