PORT JERVIS- Residents across the City of Port Jervis received an early dose of holiday cheer Thursday morning as veterans and volunteers from Tri-States Naval Ship Post #7241 prepared and delivered 126 complete Thanksgiving dinners to area seniors.

The annual tradition, now decades old, began before dawn as a crew of cooks and drivers gathered at the Barcelow Street Naval Ship Post around 6 a.m. By late morning, the team had boxed up the homemade meals and headed out across town, ensuring that even homebound seniors could enjoy a festive holiday dinner. Some recipients arrived in person at the post for pickup, but most meals were delivered door-to-door by the volunteer crew.
