TOLLAND, Conn. (WFSB) - The owner of funeral homes in Enfield and Coventry was arrested Tuesday on additional charges of embezzling money from elderly clients.
Philip Pietras, 51, of Enfield, turned himself in to Troop C in Tolland at approximately 7:15 a.m. on an active arrest warrant.
The latest charges involve allegations that Pietras embezzled funeral service contract funds from 31 victims over age 60 who held contracts at Tolland Memorial Funeral Home from 2011 through 2025.
Pietras has been arrested multiple times by different agencies as investigations expanded across towns where he operated funeral homes, including Vernon, Coventry and East Windsor.
The investigation began in October 2024 when Troop K received a complaint about a financial discrepancy.
