The proposed $152-million sports and entertainment centre could be the “spark” that helps the lower downtown Brantford reach its full potential, says the city’s mayor
“This project is extremely important to the downtown but it’s even more important to the lower downtown, the area around the civic centre,” Mayor Kevin Davis said in an interview. “We have always struggled in this community to find the spark or stimulus that would help that area of our city reach its full potential.
“This will be the spark that will lead to the dawn of a new era for the lower downtown.”
Landowners in the lower downtown want to see that the city is committed to revitalizing the area and this project is a strong demonstration of our commitment, Davis said.
