A 45-year-old Simcoe man is now facing two counts of first-degree murder.
Justin Morgan was arrested on Friday, October 10 and charged with first degree murder in his mother’s death. Barbara Morgan, 71, was found dead inside her Head Street South home in Simcoe on October 5. A postmortem examination determined her death to be a homicide.
At the time, Norfolk OPP said they were concerned for the well-being of 49-year-old Robert Sykes, who lived in the basement of Barbara Morgan’s home – and hadn’t been seen for about 10 days.
Human remains were later located by police in a wooded area off Highway 6 west of Caledonia on October 16. A postmortem examination identified the victim as Sykes, and determined his death was the result of a homicide.
