The National Weather Service issued a weather alert at 1:58 p.m. on Friday for lake effect snow until 3 p.m. for Rensselaer County.

"At 1:57 p.m., a lake effect snow band was near Grafton, or near Hoosick Falls moving east at 30 MPH," according to the weather service.

Expect lake effect snow in the following locations:

Pownal around 2:05 p.m.

Stamford around 2:20 p.m.

North Adams and Monroe around 2:25 p.m.

Readsboro around 2:30 p.m.
