CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — The suspect in a Clayton County deadly shooting has been taken into custody, according to Sheriff Levon Allen.
Authorities went to the 3000 block of Wentworth Drive in response to a woman being shot around 6:15 p.m. She was rushed to the hospital and later died, according to Clayton County Police.
The sheriff's office said its deputies and the police department were looking for the suspect. The sheriff's office said its fugitive squad was activated to look for Adonis Alkarim, who they called armed and dangerous.
In an update from Allen, the sheriff said Alkarim had been arrested. He surrendered peacefully to authorities in the 3400 block of Moreland Ave., which is about five miles from the scene of the shooting.
