Cambridge is running out of cemetery space — with some sites projected to sell out in as little as one to two years.

That was one of the most urgent warnings delivered to council this week as the city reviewed a major long-term plan for how it will manage burials, memorials and cemetery land for the next 25 years.

On Tuesday, Amanda Gebhardt from Lees and Associates presented the findings of the new Cemetery Master Plan, a detailed study meant to guide how Cambridge handles everything from future land needs to staffing, operations, finances and the types of services families are asking for.
