WAVERLY, Iowa (KCRG) - On a snow-filled field at Walston-Hoover Stadium, the previously undefeated Wartburg Knights could not pull away from Wheaton, and gave up a game-winning drive, and ending the Knights’ season
Wartburg lost 28-24 on Saturday, a four-yard Matt Crider touchdown run for the Thunder was the difference. It was the Knights’ first loss of the season, they end their year at 12-1.
Wartburg running back Dawson Rud led Wartburg with 167 yards on the ground and two touchdowns.
Quarterback Leo Dodd completed 16 of his 29 pass attempts for 168 yards.
Wartburg head coach Chris Winter, in his fifth season at the helm of the Knights, has made four Division III national tournaments.
