AKRON, Ohio — Amani Lyles scored a career-high 25 points and Akron men’s basketball defeated Milwaukee, 105-81, Saturday night at James A. Rhodes arena.
Seven Zips scored in double figures. Alongside Lyles was Evan Mahaffey (15 points), Shammah Scott (14), Sharron Young (11), Eric Mahaffey (11), Tavari Johnson (11) and Halil Barre (10).
Akron improve to 6-2, rebounding from last week’s 97-94 loss to Yale.
“It’s a great luxury to have the flexibility of over a handful of players who can score in double figures.” said Akron head coach John Groce. “When you have a lot of different players scoring in different ways it makes it harder to play us.”
Evan Mahaffey dunked four times in the first half. Lyles scored 16 points and shot 3 of 6 from 3-point range. Johnson had six assists.
