KALAMAZOO, MI — It’s been just over a year since a group of Western Michigan University alumni came forward to set the record straight as “the true originators of the ugly Christmas sweater party tradition.”

This year, they are reuniting to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the “turtleneck and sweater extravaganza” with a festive bang on Saturday, Dec. 20 in Royal Oak.

When they gather at Fifth Avenue with 400 of their oldest and newest friends, it will mark the first time in 13 years that the trendsetting crew gets together for a come-one, come-all celebration of the holiday season.

As event founders and organizers live in different reaches of the country, it will also be the last, said Bob Wedge — who helped dream up the first annual extravaganza at a Cedar Street apartment in Kalam
