Newcastle United's players were cock-a-hoop after their 4-1 demolition of Everton on Saturday evening - and rightly so. An astonishing performance by the Magpies banished the away-day blues in some style.

First-half goals by Malick Thiaw, Lewis Miley and Nick Woltemade saw Newcastle race into a 3-0 half-time lead on their first visit to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, and Thiaw added his second after the interval to ensure a strike by Kieran Dewsbury-Hall was nothing more than a consolation.

Newcastle have struggled on their travels this season. The win on Merseyside was their first away victory in the Premier League this season, to go with the win at Union SG in the Champions
