KENT COUNTY, MI - A new addition at Wahlfield Park set to open next spring is likely to get tails wagging.
The 280-acre Alpine Township park at 6811 Alpine Ave. is already known for hiking and mountain biking. It will soon also get its first enclosed dog park - a 10-acre space for dogs to roam off-leash.
The park will be complete with a one-acre small dog area, a two-acre open activity field and a swimming pond with a dog beach and jumping dock.
Construction is now underway, and a grand opening is planned for late spring 2026. The park is expected to cost around $3.8 million.
“There are a lot of dog parks in the area, but it’s typically an acre, maybe if you’re lucky, two acres,” he said.
