KANSAS CITY, Mo. ( KCTV /Gray News) - A Kansas family is reflecting on what they’re most thankful for after a grandmother was swept into the ocean and nearly died while attending a destination wedding in Mexico.
Barb Prier and her family went to Mexico’s Cabo for a destination wedding in June with plans to celebrate her 50th wedding anniversary afterward. For four days, they enjoyed family meals and walks on the beach – but on the morning of June 12, their family celebration turned into a nightmare.
That morning, hours before the evening wedding, most people were in the pool. Barb Prier and her sister left the group for what should have been a relaxing walk on the beach. They were being cautious, choosing to walk not by the water but on the dry sand.
