GATLINBURG, Tenn. (WVLT) - The Great Smoky Mountains National Park said Sunday morning one of its most popular thoroughfares has closed.
US 441, commonly known as Newfound Gap Road, closed due to snow and ice, the park announced on social media shortly after 9 a.m.
It is the only roadway in the park to be closed due to weather conditions, as of 11:30 a.m. on Sunday.
Conditions are expected to clear up Sunday afternoon, but it will remain chilly.
