The Midlands’ domination of competitive cheer continued Nov. 22 at Colonial Life Arena.

The region claimed state titles in three of the four classifications. For the second year in a row, Lexington and Chapin swept Class 5A by repeating as champions in Divisions I and II, respectively.

The Lady Wildcats claimed the Division I title with a score of 329.5, beating out Region 4-5A rivals River Bluff (315) and Dutch Fork (297.5).

Blythewood (289.5) gave the Midlands the Top Four spots in Division I with its finish. Spring Valley (264.5) finished in ninth place.

This was the Lady Wildcats sixth state title in school history and fourth under head coach Leigh Watson.
