Some people are mad about the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade, questioning why there weren't country performers, claiming that "rap isn't an American tradition," complaining about the Broadway company of Buena Vista Social Club singing in Spanish, and asking why there weren't more acts for "regular Americans." Several oldheads have pointed out that the 1981 performers included Menudo and Kool & the Gang, and the 1983 parade included Ballet Folklorico of Mexico and the Boys Choir of Harlem so it seems that the parade has a history of including a wide range of performers.
Macy's is one of the large companies that has (see more ). They also still have a chief DEI officer at the company.
