PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Troopers used a grappler to stop a suspected impaired driver accused of driving recklessly through Maryvale on Thanksgiving morning.
A trooper tried to stop a driver near 99th Avenue and Camelback Road after seeing the vehicle going 45 mph in a 65 mph zone, weaving between lanes and driving through a gore point, according to the Department of Public Safety.
The driver reportedly kept driving for about a mile before turning into a parking lot. As the driver tried to speed up, troopers deployed a grappler to stop the car, according to DPS.
The driver, whose name was not released, reportedly failed field sobriety tests, and a search of the car uncovered methamphetamine crushed into the driver’s side floorboard.
