The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 through Nov. 30. Sunday marks the last day of the 2025 hurricane season, and there wasn't much to report in Florida or anywhere else in the United States.
In total, 13 storms formed in the Atlantic. Of those, five storms became hurricanes, and four of them were major hurricanes.
According to WESH 2's First Warning Meteorologist Eric Burris, this is the second-highest amount of Category 5 storms in one season, with three total.

The only season with more Category 5 storms was 2005 with Emily, Katrina, Rita and Wilma. From that list, the last three names have all been retired due to their widespread devastation and damage. In total, the damage from that year was estimated to be between $150 billion and $200 billion in 2005.
