NEW ORLEANS — A series of shootings in Lafourche Parish over just 14 hours left one man dead while hunting with a friend and two others injured, authorities said.
No arrests have been made, and investigators said the shootings are not related.
The first incident occurred around 4 p.m. Saturday on Bayou Folse Road in Raceland. Garret Verdun, 45, of Raceland, was hunting with a friend when a rifle discharged while the two were handling it. Verdun was struck in the head and died from the injury. The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is assisting with the investigation.
About five hours later, deputies responded to a shooting on Headland Drive in Thibodaux. A man in his 20s was struck in the leg by a single gunshot. He was treated at the hospital and released. Investigators bel
