A sheriff’s department says a potentially serious crash was avoided Friday night after deputies stopped a semi-truck that was reportedly swerving dangerously across lanes.
According to the sheriff’s office, on November 28 at approximately 9:45 p.m., deputies observed a white semi-truck drifting from lane to lane and driving in an unsafe manner. Deputies conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver.
Officials say the driver appeared clearly impaired and admitted to using methamphetamine. The driver then consented to a urine test, which, according to the sheriff’s office, tested positive for several other drugs as well.
The sheriff used the incident to issue a strong public message to commercial drivers:
