An unauthorized visitor was taken into custody Friday morning after a struggle with a School Resource Officer (SRO) on the Alcorn Central campus, according to school and law enforcement officials.

School leaders say the incident began when a student’s grandfather, who did not have authorization to access the student, came onto school grounds. He was immediately confronted by the SRO in the parking lot before he was able to enter the school building.

During the encounter, a struggle occurred and the individual allegedly attempted to produce a firearm. Officials say the SRO reacted quickly, subdued the man, and took him into custody. Additional law enforcement officers responded to the campus to secure the area.
