The fire that broke out Thursday afternoon displacing hundreds of residents from two East York highrises continues to burn, Toronto fire said in an update Monday.
A total of 378 units have been evacuated, the city told the Star on Sunday. The Canadian Red Cross was supporting 279 people from 141 households as of noon Sunday.
Evacuated residents have been placed in three hotels, according to the mayor on Monday morning.
Toronto Fire Services division commander Rob Hewson is expected to speak to reporters at the scene about the blaze.
Emergency crews were first called to 11 Thorncliffe Park Dr. at about 1:30 p.m. Thursday for reports of a fire. Early indications first suggested the blaze began in an electric panel or transformer.
