THOMASVILLE, N.C. — After a 3-year-old came home from Kid City Daycare covered in bruises and blood, owner Faye Burchett was sentenced in October to jail time and probation in the abuse case that shut down the 50-year-old facility .
Burchett, plead no contest in the case. She was found guilty of felony obstruction of justice and misdemeanor child abuse.
As part of a plea agreement, a third charge of assault on a child under 12 was dismissed. She will serve six to 17 months behind bars and 30 months of supervised probation with conditions including anger management, mental health treatment, no contact with the victim or his family, and restrictions on contact with minors.
