LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - An Oldham County woman whose home went up in Flames Monday morning is speaking out.

The fire happened on Potts Lane, which is just off Highway 329 near La Grange Road.

Officials said crews were able to quickly put out the fire that was mainly on the second floor.

The woman who lives there, Donna Stivers, told WAVE her boyfriend was over, and she walked into the kitchen and suddenly heard crackling.

“There’s a door to go upstairs, and I open it up, and I just see flames. And I screamed, ‘The house is on fire!’ He thought I was playing, and I said, ‘No, the house is on fire.’ So he started getting water and running it up the stairs, and I was looking for my purse and everything. I called the fire department, and they told me, ‘Get out of the house,’” Stivers said
