LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - With snow in the forecast tonight through Tuesday morning, Louisville Metro Government is preparing to treat roads.

By noon on Monday, Louisville Metro Public Works crews had already spent the morning spraying streets with brine to prevent any accumulations of snow and ice.

“This brine will keep the snow from adhering to the roadways,” Bill Bell, director of the Louisville Metro Department of Transportation, told reporters. “Roadway temperature right now is about 31, 32 degrees— something along those lines.”

Applying brine to the road surface is the first in a 3-step procedure for snow removal that also includes salting and plowing.
