LOUISVILLE, Ky. —

Snow is possible in the Louisville area Monday night into Tuesday morning, so road crews are treating for the first time this season.

Louisville Metro Department of Transportation Director Bill Bell, who was appointed to the new department back in the summer, provided info on the strategy, which was laid out last week.

"We've decided to have our first brining event today," Bell said.

Last week, he said they'd be brining more this season than in the past.

Bell said the brine (salt-water mixture) will keep the snow from adhering to the roadways.

According to him, they started brining at 9 a.m. Monday and will be out all day. Then, they'll have crews on standby at night.
