The city of Santa Fe has agreed to pay $300,000 to settle a lawsuit filed by a city police officer severely injured by a police dog in 2022.

As of Nov. 6, the city spent $81,428 to defend against the officer's lawsuit before agreeing to the settlement, according to a city spokesperson who wrote there would still be "some additional billing related to the settlement."

The agreement still has to be approved by the governing body Dec. 10 and the mayor still needs to sign it, "but the terms won't change," according to Deputy City Manager Andrea Phillips,
