Match Day continues to break records and raise funds for local nonprofit organizations. Emporia Community Foundation (ECF) announced a total of $829,607.68 in funds raised for the 35 participating nonprofits during a presentation ceremony held at the Flinthills Mall Tuesday.
The total represents a 7.8% increase from last year, which previously held the record for total funds raised. Since its inception twelve years ago, Match Day has raised $4.6 million for nonprofit organizations serving Chase, Coffey, Greenwood, Lyon, Morris, Osage, and Wabaunsee counties.
Linda Kehres-Schmidt, executive director of ECF, spoke about the importance of Match Day to the community after the record-breaking total was revealed during the event.
