WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - While the Wichita Police Department reports “overall significant declines and meaningful progress in public safety efforts” entering December of 2025, year-to-date, there are slight increases in two violent crime categories compared with 2024.

Wichita Police Department crime stats show 33 murders this year compared to 32 through the first 11 months of last year and a year-to-date increase in reported rape cases, at 280 for 2025, compared to 270 at this point last year.

Across the board with categories including robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, larceny and auto theft, there are drops comparing 2025 to 2024 and the five-year, year-to-date average.
