LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Fayette County Public Schools students woke up Tuesday to a snow day, giving families a chance to head outdoors for sledding and winter fun.

At Stonewall Elementary, families gathered on the hill to take advantage of the unexpected day off. The Sullinger family was among those making memories in the snow.

“It’s really fun. I really like it,” said Austin Sullinger, 13.

His mother, Anna Sullinger, who teaches in the district, said the snow day brought back childhood memories.

“It brings back memories for me of snow days of going outside and playing in the snow and just getting to experience sledding and all of those things,” Anna Sullinger said. “I’m sure if we have a lot of snow days I’ll regret saying that and I’ll want NTI days, but right now today is a good da
