Allegheny County Council unanimously voted to pass a budget Tuesday evening that aims to reduce administrative spending where possible as the region continues to grapple with rising costs associated with inflation, tariffs and a rising jail population.

The $1.2 billion operating budget represents about a 1.5% increase in spending over the 2025 budget — a smaller bump in annual spending than usual as the operating budget has typically grown between 3% and 4% in previous years.
