ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Voters in Atlanta and the metro cities of South Fulton, Sandy Springs, East Point and Roswell are headed to the polls Tuesday in the latest election cycle, a series of races that could be dwarfed compared to Georgia’s nationally watched 2026 midterms.

Longtime Mayor Rusty Paul is facing a runoff challenge from Dontaye Carter, who tried to oust Paul four years ago in his first mayoral bid.
Paul has been in public service for decades, having first been elected to the Stone Mountain city council in the late 1970s. Carter is a small business owner and a communications and public relations professional.
