ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Longtime Sandy Springs Mayor Rusty Paul gets to keep his job for another four years, thanks to voters in one of metro Atlanta’s largest cities.
On Tuesday, Paul - who has been in office since 2013 and is only the city’s second mayor - defeated Dontaye Carter in the city’s municipal runoff election.
With 98% of precincts reporting as of 10:15 p.m., Paul garnered 10,298 votes and Carter got 4,568 votes.
This is the second time Carter has run for Sandy Springs, having first come up short in 2021. Carter is a small business owner and a communications and public relations professional.
