NEW ORLEANS —
The Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating drug overdoses after multiple inmates at the Orleans Parish Jail were treated by medical staff on Sunday night.
According to the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office, around 8:39 p.m., deputies in Housing Unit 3F observed several residents showing signs of possible drug intoxication. Advertisement
Emergency protocols were activated, and Wexford medical staff administered Narcan to approximately six residents.
Four inmates were transported to UMC for evaluation and later returned to the facility.
One OPSO supervisor also experienced symptoms and received medical care before returning to duty.
OPSO said a full search of the housing unit was conducted, and the incident remains under active investigation.
